My commission paintings are stylised illustrations just like the illustrations you can see in my portfolio. They are not realistic portraits, but whimsical illustrations that portray the characteristics and quirks of your pet animals or children for example.
I have a limited number of available commission slots throughout the year. Since my main focus is on picture book projects, I do not work with strict deadlines for private commissions. Please keep this in mind if you have a tight schedule for your commission.

My work process generally consists out of these five phases and includes photo updates:

1. Briefing: you contact me and choose your specific commission size.

2. The payment is made and the commission slot is locked for you. I will ask questions about your wishes and I ask for reference photo’s (if needed).

3. I will create one or more rough sketches to show you my idea(s).

4. After your approval of the idea(s) and composition, the base drawing is made in pencil and shown to you.

5. After your approval or corrections, the painting starts. It is no longer possible to change the composition after this stage.

6. You receive the final photo of your now finished commission and (after payment of the shipping costs) the painting is carefully wrapped and shipped to you! 

Materials

I mostly work with a combination of water colors, gouache paint and color pencils. I sometimes create pieces with graphite (grey tones) or collage. Together we’ll choose the medium that fits your personal commission the best :)

PRICING

Option 1: Creative freedom (best price)

I like to have creative freedom within my commissions, since this works the most pleasant for me and it creates the best possible painting for you! Please know that even within this option, YOU get to choose the theme and the characters for your painting. With the information you give me about the characteristics of your animal(s) and/or child(ren), I can come up with fitting ideas for a beautiful composition.

• 15 x 15 cm (3.9 x 3.9 inch): € 300

• 2 paintings of 15 x 15 cm (diptych): € 575

• A5 (14.8 x 21 cm = 5.8 x 8.3 inch): € 350

• A4: (21 x 29,7 cm = 8.3 x 11.7 inch): € 500

• Larger sizes: custom pricing depending on your needs.

Option 2: You already have a set idea & composition in mind
If you have a very specific idea and image in mind of what you like me to draw, exactly as you see it, this may be possible when the content of the piece fits my illustration style. This limits my creative input though. I’ve learned from experience that these commissions take a lot more time, so in this case there will be an added fee (see pricing below).
